(More customer reviews)boyd does a nice job of providing solid overviews of major crises that impact the lives of children, such as abuse, illness, divorce. however, the book doesn't provide in-depth coverage of any individual topic. for those just starting out, the book gives a good general idea of assessment, treatment planning, and some specific techniques for use with this population. however, for those with more advanced skills, the book falls short of providing information that will enhance practice. an excellent grad school textbook, or for those who lack experience with this population. the book does provide good tools for use in assessment, and does cover the assessment process in depth. the chapter on childhood bereavement is particularly good.
