(More customer reviews)This book provides a solid introduction to the realm of speech physiology, speech perception, and acoustic phonetics. The material is highly accessible, even to the reader with little background in linguistics, mathematics, biology, or engineering. The down side is that the information involving experimental and analyitical techniques is somewhat outdated due to advances in technology. If you're looking for a basic, understandable, and wide-ranging introduction to the field, though, I would definitely recommend this book.
